Expensive Hand Helds are Expensive.

I'm sorry that I'm making another post that sounds like I'm complaining and ranting. I don't want this blog full of so much negativity, however, I can't deny that when I think of things to complain about, I immediately come to this blog! Haha. Well, I also think of a lot of positive things, too! Maybe I'm just too paranoid that I'm going to sound like a total jerk in my blog posts. I swear I'm not really this negative all the time! I'm just a typical gamer, always having to rant about every little thing and whatnot.

Price: $300-$350
ANYWAY, with news of the PSP2 – or should I say NGP (sorry everyone, but I call it the PSP2) – being the big talk of gaming this week, I decided to look into the new hand held. I could write paragraphs upon paragraphs about what I think of the PSP2, but I’m not going to do that. I'll keep the majority of my opinions about the PSP2 to myself – except for one. The price. The estimated price of Sony’s PSP2 is to be around $300-$350. Woaaah, what? Yeah. That is the same price of a new Xbox 360. Now mind you, this hand held is supposed to be like a mini-console itself. But nonetheless, it is still a hand held. I’m sorry Sony, I’m a dedicated gamer, but I’m also a college student. There is no way that the average person would be able to spend that much money on a hand held system. I feel that the only people who will be getting a PSP2 upon its immediate release are hardcore Sony fanboys and rich people. Unfortunately, I am neither of those. So I will not be able to afford a PSP2. Maybe in two years when the price gets lowered. But not now.

Price: $250
And while we are discussing the prices of hand held systems, I must say that I feel like the prices of hand helds are getting higher and higher. The 3DS is $250. That is obviously a bit more affordable than the PSP2, but I still think it’s a little too much for a hand held. I understand that the 3DS is incorporating a lot of new features and breakthrough technology (no more dorky 3D glasses! Woo hoo!), but I can still buy myself a refurbished xbox 360 for the same price. The DSi XL is $150. A new, fancy PSP goes for about $200. And I think that is my limit for spending money on a hand held system. $200. Anything more than that is just… a little too much for me. This is obviously my opinion, but I don’t doubt that there are many, many others who would agree with me. In 2011, the prices of hand held systems have gone past my limit, unfortunately. I am sad to say that I will not be getting a 3DS or a PSP2 upon their immediate releases, as much as I would love to play both of them.

And that is my sad tale. I guess I’ll be stuck with my DSi for the next few years.

My thoughts on Dead Space 2.

Dead Space 2 was released yesterday. I've yet to pick up the game and play it. However, I have played the first Dead Space game, I have played the Dead Space 2 demo, and I have done my research. I am aware that many are very excited for this game and have been looking forward to it's release. Regardless of what everyone else has been saying about Dead Space 2, I am not happy about what I have experienced so far. I am extremely disappointed, and I am not looking forward to this game like the majority of the gaming community. Here's why.

First of all, I have played my fair share of horror games. From Silent Hill to Resident Evil to Siren, they are all games that have freaked me out. But I must say, no game has scared me as much as the first Dead Space game did. I recall being so afraid, whenever I played and I was home alone, I had to ask my friends to join an xbox live party and talk to me while I played so I didn't crap myself.

If you've played the first Dead Space game, you will remember how slow paced the game was. Although the slow pace got a little frustrating at times, that feature is one of the many things that really made the game frightening and suspenseful. In the demo for Dead Space 2, I noticed that the game was much more fast paced. I felt like I was playing Gears of War, not Dead Space. It's supposed to be slow and scary, not fast like Gears of War. A few things in the demo made me jump, but overall, I don't think I was as scared as I should have been. If the demo was supposed to impress me, I can tell you now that I was not impressed. And because of that, I decided not to buy the game. I may rent it. But not right away. Maybe in a month or so. Right now, though, I don't have much of a desire to play it.

But you really want to know what my favorite thing about Dead Space 2 is? Issac's new "curb stomp". It's hilarious. Watch!

May 3rd, 2011 - Duke Nukem. Forever.

I made it clear in the beginning of 2011 that this year will be the "Year of Duke".
I had many people who doubted me at first, because news on the game had gone silent for a while after the big news last year that Gearbox was taking over the development. But yesterday 2K games made it official. This IS the year. The year that Duke Nukem Forever will finally be released!
Gearbox and 2K, I love you so much for making my over 10 year long awaited dream to finally come true.
May 3rd, 2011.

If You Want A 3DS... Go Pre-Order It On Amazon Or Gamestop Now

The talk of the gaming world yesterday was the 3DS. The confirmed price is $250, and the official release date is March 27th. Both Amazon and Gamestop are now taking pre orders for the handheld system. If you are really interested in getting your hands on the 3DS, I would suggest pre ordering it right away. I am almost positive that Nintendo is going to do the same thing that they did to us when the Nintendo Wii was first released. To refresh your memory, back in 2006-07 when the Wii was first released, every store only had a limited supply of Wiis each week. Nintendo didn't supply the amount of Wiis that were being demanded in America. Therefore, if you did not pre order a Nintendo Wii, you were unfortunately out of luck for quite some time. Every week when stores got their new shipment of Wiis, many would line up outside of their local stores early in the morning with hopes of getting their hands on their very own Wii from each store's very limited supply. (Sadly, I was a victim of this madness. For weeks I waited outside of my local Best Buy in order to get a Wii. One week, I finally got one. It was a glorious day.)
Anyway, I read an article a few weeks ago which stated that Nintendo is only releasing 2.5 million 3DS handhelds in America on it's release date. That is actually quite a small number. And Nintendo, as we have seen with the Wii, has a history of not being able to meet the demand of their very largely desired products.
But who knows? Maybe the 3DS won't do too well. It's hard to say. $250 is a lot to ask for a handheld system. However, it is the first 3D electronic to be released where you don't need those obnoxious glasses. Definitely a revolutionary piece of technology. So we shall see. I can tell you that I won't be getting a 3DS anytime soon.
If you'd like to read more of my thoughts on the 3DS, check out my post from about a week ago.

And, finally, I'd like to leave you all with some images comparing the N64 version of Ocarina of Time vs. the new 3DS version. The 3DS OoT looks absolutely stunning.

My goodness, it looks SO good.

MAGFest 9

This past weekend I attended MAGFest, a gaming con in the Alexandria, VA. This was my first time attending the con.
Overall I had a good time; They had a lot to do there, but I pretty much gamed the whole weekend. I really loved the variety of games that MAGFest had to offer. I spent a great deal of time playing a bunch of old arcade games that they had there. Who can say no to FREE arcade games? Think of all the quarters I saved!
What I really spent most of my time playing, however, was Dance Central on Kinect. I had no idea that I would enjoy that game so much. Honestly, it's probably the only good game that is out for the Kinect right now. This game...really makes me want to buy a Kinect. For real. I can picture what my roommate will think of me when I try to put a Kinect in our dorm room.

Now, onto the pictures! Here are a few of them.

I...almost cried when I saw these two arcade games standing in front of me. The original Tron. Wow. I couldn't believe that I was actually able to see the original Tron games. AND I GOT TO PLAY IT. Yes, I played Tron. THE Tron. Okay, I'm going to stop 'fangirling' now.

No, I lied. There's more.

That is the smile of a woman in love. WITH TRON.

I think that will suffice for pictures. Because what could possibly be better than Tron?

Oh, and here's the new swag.
Yes, that is my zerg shirt again. That's not new from the con, obviously. I got the dice bracelet in honor of my new-found love for tabletop gaming. Also, the ring is a PS3 controller.
So, yeah. MagFest was awesome. Would like to go again next year.

My facebook news feed was flooded with some interesting news yesterday.

If you haven't heard the latest news from the lovely Square Enix, let me put it this way. All I saw was this image:

 And then I immediately thought...

SQUARE ENIX, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?
Seriously, though. They haven't stopped failing. I'm sure they know how much X-2 failed, but they just want to make the monies. Oh, what a sad day this is. Honestly, I never played XIII. Don't really care to. Don't really care too much about Squeenix anymore. But I had to post this because a) I find it hilarious and b) it helps reinforce my reasoning as to why Squeenix sucks and I don't care about them anymore.

I'll leave you all on that note. Oh, also, I went to Magfest this past weekend. I'll probably make a post about that soon.

I made a video!

I made a quick video displaying how I am forced to play WoW at home because of my laptop. It is quite pathetic.
You all should check it out.

Pretty bad, right?
I need a new gaming laptop or a new PC.

Things I hate in Call of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer

I'm pretty sure it's impossible for me to turn on Black Ops, start a match, and not get aggravated by the stupid things that people do in that game.

First, I want to show off my cute playercard. Isn't it so cute?!

I dunno, I tried. I might think of something else soon.

Anyway, I have compiled a short list of things that I hate in the Black Ops multiplayer. Specifically, Team Deathmatch. I don't play much Free-for-all, or really any other game type (maybe I should start).

- Campers, Campers, Campers.

Campers are inevitable. But the ones that really bother me are the campers who hide up in a tower, place a claymore near the entrance, and snipe you over and over. And then when you walk up behind them, they don't even notice. Morons, I tell you.

- RC-XDs
Well, they don't bother me when they're used once or twice in a match. But there's always that one match where the other team is spamming RC-XDs left and right. It's the most annoying thing ever. Stupid little cars.

-When people on your team steal your care package

Haha, okay. So this hasn't really happened to me, but I know someone who seems to experience this a lot. So you call in a care package, right? But then you see your team huddled around the area where your care package is supposed to land. Because they're all distracted, you end up dying, and they take all the goods from YOUR care package. Thanks, teammates.

-Last Stand

Worst. Perk. Ever. Like RC-XDs, it's not too bad when only one person on the other team is using last stand. But again, there's always that one team where EVERYONE is using last stand. It's really annoying.

-When teammates steal your last stand kills
You down an enemy in last stand, but then he ends up killing you. When you respawn, you notice you get a +80. WTF? Again, teammates are jerks. If you see a guy downed in last stand, he's going to die in a few seconds. Is it really necessary to take the kill from the person who really deserves it? The only situation when this is okay is if the last stander is about to be revived. But other than that, it's just darn rude.

-As a matter of fact, when a teammate steals ANY kill

So pretty much when you get any +80 assist, you KNOW that kill was supposed to be yours. Freaking teammates.

-Stupid player card images
The new playercard options on Black Ops are pretty cool. But of course, there always has to be those immature 15-year old xbox live players who make stupid things like a penis. Do PSN players have this same experience? I think it's just xbox live.

And that's all I can think of. After reading all of this, it makes me wonder... if so much about Black Ops annoys me, then why do I play this game? Something just keeps bringing me back to that Team Deathmatch, hahaha.

Keep on gaming, errybodyyyy.

Nintendo 3DS. Another thing coming this way in 2011.

I am quite aware that my last post was maybe... a little bit too excited for Duke Nukem Forever. I apologize. To be honest, there really hasn't been to much recent news on Duke Nukem Forever, so...maybe my "Year of Duke" might be a little over exaggerated.

G4 claims that 2011 will be the year of the 3DS.

The revolutionary...

Nintendo 3DS!

Here's a funny little thing I just found:
Recently, Nintendo released a warning about letting children under the age of 6 play the 3DS. Young kids apparently should keep the games in 2D version because of the many problems that people suffer from 3D images.

Here is the full article from Tech News World:

Hey, it's darn true! I haven't seen many 3D movies besides Avatar a year ago and Tron 3 times last month. (Yes, I did see Tron 3 times in theaters. As a matter of fact, I'm planning on going again!) When they show the coming attractions for movies, my eyes get dizzy and it's hard for me to focus on the 3D images that the previews for movies have. I know many will agree with me on this: when there is an option to see a movie in 2D or 3D, many will still go for 2D (and that's not always because it's cheaper).

So now that I had my little rant about 3D, I will continue to discuss my thoughts on the 3DS.
As of now, I really have no interest in getting a 3DS. I definitely need to see a 3DS in person before I would even consider investing in one. Of course the idea sounds awesome. Nintendo is always thinking outside of the box. I mean, the Wii was first before Kinect and Playstation Move, as you all know. While Nintendo, in my opinion, doesn't have as many games that are of interest to me besides a small handful of games, I am still amazed at what Nintendo has done to the world of gaming as we know it today. And for that, I commend them for creating the 3DS. While I know I won't be immediately purchasing one, I certainly anticipate the reactions, reviews, and responses that it will recieve once it is put out on the market.

But I gotta tell you, a few of the titles that they are releasing for the 3DS look really awesome. Here is my top 3.
The first thing to catch my eye was the OCARINA OF TIME REMAKE. OMG. Okay, readers. Listen up. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is my favorite video game ever. EVER. I know I love Starcraft to death, but OoT has and always will be my favorite game. No questions asked. Phew. Got that out of my system. Yeah, this remake looks awesome.

The new Kid Icarus game also looks pretty sweet.

And finally, the Metal Gear Solid Remake is the third title to get me all excited.

If you haven't looked at the list of games that was released after E3 2010 of all of the games in development for the 3DS, check it out! A lot of classic Nintendo games are being remade, it should be awesome.

Nintendo, you're awesome. Even though I really haven't bought too many of your games in months, you're still awesome. I have no doubts in my mind that the 3DS will be amazing. It's only a few months away.

Happy New Year to all of my followers and readers!

I hope everyone had a blessed holiday!

2011 is the year of...

Oh yeaah, that's right. Duke Nukem. Forever. THIS is the year for the game we've all been waiting for. I have complete faith that there will be no more delays or holds on this game thanks to Gearbox. We won't be disappointed. It's all about Duke.
All hail to the king, baby!
