New shirt!!

If there was any sort of discrepancy about whether or not I was the Queen of Blades, I think this shirt should fix that.
This shirt JUST came in literally like an hour ago. It's just a little something I ordered for myself. ;) I just had to have it. I bought it from Jinx! They have some awesome clothes. Definitely gonna buy from them again.

And while we're discussing new swag...

I got new posters courtesy of my dad's car dealership. The Black Ops jeep is soo cool. Ugh. Who wouldn't want one?

So that's all of my new stuff as of recent days. Oh, I got Just Dance 2, and I've been playing that game like crazy.

For the Swarm!

Why is video game music so much BETTER than all other music?

You all know I speak the truth there. Come on.
To quote Tommy Tallarico, creator of Video Games Live, "If great composers like Beethoven and Bach were still alive today, they would be composing video game music."
I couldn't agree more.

I'm kind of sad. For months I had been planning to go to Video Games Live in New Jersey tomorrow, December 29th. Unfortunately, the plans I made to go with certain people recently backfired, so I won't be going. I've been QQing a lot about this for the past few days.
I went to Video Games Live in NYC last year. I can honestly say that VGL has been the best concert that I have ever been to (and I have been to my fair share of concerts and performances).
Tommy Tallarico is an awesome guy. He has inspired me greatly. He's very, very dedicated to his work and video games. I've met him several times, actually.

Tommy and I at Video Games Live in 2009. I look awful, but oh well. I cosplayed Princess Peach to that concert; it was awesome. I even got to go up on stage before the show!

Because I love video game music so much, I was considering doing a meme type thing for this blog. I would like to post a piece of music from a game every week. A song or composition that I'm absolutely in love with.

So for all of you Final Fantasy VI fans. I bring you, Dancing Mad by the Distant Worlds Orchestra This is probably the best composition I've heard of this song. Distant Worlds FTW.

This extremely well-made video pretty much incorporates every annoying thing that people do in COD!

Running knife kills, camping, etc.
A really well done video, nonetheless. You all should check this out!

PS - I love the guy who gets owned at the end AND tea bagged. I have definitely seen that happen before.

If you plan on going to Comic-Con 2011, you will relate to this post.

Getting a ticket for Comic-Con this year has been so freaking confusing.

For MONTHS the registration for San Diego Comic-Con 2011 has been closed, leaving many people including myself very restless and impatient, wondering when we'll be able to actually purchase our badges for the event. For the past few months, I would check back on their website every day, but the registration to get a badge would still be closed. After a while, I just gave up with constantly checking back on the Comic-Con website. Well, guess what? Apparently I missed a "test" that Comic-Con was conducting on December 15th.

This is what I saw on my screen.

WHY are they being so difficult this year? The whole page had this complex explanation on how they were selling 1000 badges and how you could get them. Well, apparently I missed it... thanks for that, Comic-Con.
Now I don't even know if they are still selling more badges or anything. There aren't any links on the site to buy more badges. I've been looking all over, I can't find any information.

There are A LOT of people who are just as pissed as me. I'm currently looking at the Comic-Con facebook page, and people are raging. We have the right to. Comic-Con has been failing all over the place.

So in conclusion, I'm hoping that I can actually get to Comic-Con 2011. If they'll actually sell me a freaking ticket, I'll be there.

My favorite underrated, not-so-popular games.

I grew up playing so many games. Today, the majority of my favorite games are all quite popular. However, there are some games I have played and enjoyed that are not very popular and definitely deserve more of a hype than they received. Here is my personal list of my favorite underrated and not-so-popular games. I tried to mix it up as much as I possibly could, ranging from old games to more recent games. I do not really describe the storylines because I am not looking to write a review on the games; I just describe my personal feelings toward each game. Hope you enjoy!  And if you have not played these games, go pick 'em up!

Okage: Shadow King

I'm not a huge fan of RPGs because, quite honestly, I'm not very dedicated to them. It takes a lot for me to complete an RPG game from start to finish. Okage, an RPG for the PS2, was an extremely fun and enjoyable game for me. I know it has a  small fanbase out there, but I think it deserves an even bigger fan base. The story was cute, and I absolutely loved every character in the game. I think the character development in this game is what makes it so great. If you're like me and RPGs don't keep your interest, I would certainly reccomend Okage. And if you are an RPG fan and you haven't played this game, I think it is time to break out the PS2 again and play it!

Jet Force Gemini

Oh, hey N64 games. This game got pretty good reviews, but I never hear much about it. You can tell this game was made by Rare, though. Just look at the art! I personally loved the weapons in this game. The multiplayer was alright. But overall, it was an awesome game that deserved more love back when it was first released.

Fire Emblem : Rekka no Ken

Fire Emblem became quite popular due to the the Smash Bros. series. Most gamers have played the more recent Fire Emblem games for the Wii and DS. However, this Fire Emblem which came out on the GBA in 2003 doesn't have any of the Smash Bros. characters in it. It was also my first Fire Emblem game and what made me fall in love with the Fire Emblem series! Definitely a great story, and awesome tactical gameplay in it, as all Fire Emblems do. I don't know why this Fire Emblem is not as popular as the others, it totally should be!

Metro 2033

Before I say anything, I must confess: I have not technically played this game. However, I did watch my ex-boyfriend play through the entire story on his 360, and I loved it so much! I was really getting into the game and storyline while he was playing, it is too bad I did not play it myself. Honestly, when he had started playing it, I had never heard of the game before. I was surprised, because it was definitely a unique and interactive first-person shooter. From what I read, it got pretty good reviews. But other than that, I have not heard much of this game. It was based off a book, and I plan on ordering the book online soon because I am a nerd. The storyline to the game interested me so much that I had to buy it! (Plus, I'm a HUGE fan of games that are based off of books.)

I have no mouth, and I must scream

Wow, just thinking of this game gives me chills. Chiiiillllsss. Ugh, talk about a CREEPY game. This game defines creepy. Okay, if you don't know this about me, learn it now: I am a huge fan of games that are based off of books. This is an old, old computer game based off of a sci-fi short story by Harlan Ellison. I read the short story. I was quite disturbed. I played the game. I was even more disturbed. Obviously the game was very old; but to be honest, that made it even more horrifying. If you are into sci-fi horror, you must play this game. I guarantee it will freak you out.

Red Faction II

Ah, Red Faction. I have been a dedicated fan of this series for years. I wasn't a huge fan of the most recent Red Faction: Guerilla game for the 360/PS3. Red Faction II was my favorite game in the series. The story was pretty good, but the multiplayer was SO FUN. I spent hours upon hours playing the multiplayer. I do not remember this game getting a lot of love, but I think it should have.

Rise of the Triad: The Dark War

I am trying to think of the right words to describe how much I love this game. Rise of the Triad (as a kid, I always called it ROTT) is a very old PC game. A first person shooter that came out in 1995. This game was my very first FPS game. Talk about a game that I spent hours upon hours playing... this is it. ROTT was a fun (and very violent) game...ugh, I can't even think of the right words to describe it! All I can say is it brings back a lot of memories for me, and it was totally overshadowed by Doom and Duke Nukem (which were both excellent FPS games released around the same time). I have the disc to this game, but it's so old that I can't play it on my laptop! I think there is an iPhone app for this game, though. So if you're interested in playing this game, go look for the app.

UN Squadron / Area 88

The final game that I will be putting on this list. I have saved the best for last. In Japan, this game was called Area 88 (apparently it was based off a manga which I never read. It also has an anime, though, which I did watch and I enjoyed it very much). In America, the game was called U.N. Squadron. It's an SNES game made by Capcom. A side-scrolling shooting game, where you are a pilot in a plane fighting off some terrorist group. The music to this game...omg. The music was the most amazing part about it. It was an EXTREMELY hard game, and I never finished it. But the game never ceased to keep me playing when I was younger. To this day, I still get urges to play it. Ahh, between the music, the addicting gameplay, and everything else, UN Squadron has become one of my favorite games ever. Everevever.

And that's it for my list! I hope I have persuaded some of you to pick up these games and play them. And if you have played some of these not-so-popular games, you rock.

That is all.

Olivia Munn, VGA rants, etc.

I look a lot into females in the gaming industry. Why? Because I plan on being one in the future, of course.
If I could just take over Morgan Webb's place a few years from now, that would be great!
Hey, she's not going to be that hot forever. She's been around for a while, anyway.

Now, Olivia Munn. I'm very indifferent about her. She was okay on Attack of the Show. Some things that she does I feel are a bit much. But other than that, I like her for the most part. So many guys find her to be the sexiest thing that ever hit the gaming industry. I read her book Suck it, Wonder Woman! quite some time ago, and she really cracked me up. Some of her stories in that book were hilarious. After reading her book, I began to like her a little bit more. I know she pretty much ditched Attack of the Show for the Daily Show, which is not cool. But you know what? After reading her book, I kind of expected that of her. She talked a lot about wanting to further her career. And guess what? That's what she's doing. But it all started with Attack of the Show.

Recently, Munn appeared on Spike's Video Game Awards 2010. For the record, I think the VGAs suck. This year it was extremely unprofessional, unorganized, and pretty darn lame. Actually, that's usually how it is every year. But as a gamer, I feel the need to watch it anyway. I was pretty shocked to see her there, because many of us thought she fell off of the face of the earth in the gaming industry now that she's having a grand time with NBC. She was as obnoxious as ever, of course. And she mentions getting "three red rings and watching all of the cutscenes to Metal Gear Solid 4" in one sentence. There is some sort of discrepancy that she was implying that MGS4 was on the 360, but I think she was saying them as two separate things. Either way, I was annoyed that she was there, going off like she is still some sort of amazing gamer. Yeahh riiiight.

But you know what? Felicia Day was nominated for a category in the VGAs. Yay! Best Performance by a Human Female. Felicia Day, first of all, is probably my all time favorite female in the gaming industry. She is also a huge inspiration of mine. For one, I know for a fact that she is a legitimate gamer because she CREATED The Guild. Chicas like Olivia Munn, on the other hand, make you wonder if they actually play these games because of the stupid things they say. Unfortunately, Felicia Day didn't win. HOWEVER, the girl who did the voice of Kerrigan won! I was a little disappointed because I love Felicia, but...Kerrigan! Okay, okay... I know Kerrigan had a total of three lines as a human in Starcraft 2, but it was an EXTREMELY impacting scene. I don't care what anyone says, I'm glad Kerrigan got some love. Am I showing some sort of bias here? :)

Olivia Munn is at the beginning talking about her oh-so-amazing new show that she's starring in. But, more importantly, Felicia Day shows up at 4:21, so you can all just go ahead and skip to her. She's adorable.

This kind of makes me want a PS3.

KRATOS IS THE MAN. He is going to be in the PS3 version of the new MK game!

One of the manliest characters in gaming right there.

Four Superhero movies in one year?! What?! This is not possible.

Okay, I might just implode from superhero movies in 2011. I'm more excited than ever, because these are not sequel movies. They're all brand new superheroes getting their own movies, so that makes it much more exciting.

So here's my "order of excited" list.

  • Green Lantern
  • Captain America
  • Thor
  • Green Hornet
They better do a good job with these movies. Please, please don't destroy some of the most amazing superheroes known to man. Please, Hollywood?

Also, Ryan Reynolds is hot.

As is Chris Evans.

Eye candy, much?

And, finally, I'd like to leave this for everyone who is reading this blog.

And Bono from U2 wrote the music. LOLOL.

New Dante vs. New Superman

Hmmm, am I the only one who sees a striking resemblance between these to?
When I first saw Dante, I said to myself, "do those Japanese developers really think that this is what us Westerners are into? Did they really think that we were going to love this new Dante?"
And then I heard about this new Superman.

There is no hope left.
No hope.

UPDATE: I am now playing WoW.

Yes, I caved.

I have a bit of a history with this game. Let me briefly tell you.
I played for a very short amount of time years ago. Before Lich King, as a matter of fact. I had a very bad experience playing the game, and after that I vowed I would never play it again. And more recently, a series of events happened that resulted in me holding a grudge against the game; I really despised it.
So, yeah. I constantly hated on the game. I'm not really into many MMORPG games, anyway. Whenever I get into them, it doesn't last very long.

However, I decided it's time to let go of that grudge that I have against World of Warcraft, haha.

There are actually a few reasons why I finally decided to start playing:
1. The expansions were dirt cheap.
2. I was home in NY last week, and I left my xbox there. So for the couple of weeks I'm back here at school, I have no xbox, leaving me with only computer games to play.

Currently I'm rolling a Blood Elf Mage (I'm not going to even bother disclosing the lvl because I just started).
I also have a Dranei Shaman, but the Blood Elf Mage will most likely be my main.

Ahh, so that's my update for ya! Starcraft and WoW have pretty much consumed all of my time lately, being that it's the end of the semester and I don't have much to do AND I have no xbox.

For the record....

I wrote my entry complaining about zombies BEFORE I read the most recent Game Informer. It is so funny that Game Informer wrote a very similar article titled "What Games will Zombies Infect Next?".
Hahaha, so hilarious! So I really am not the only one noticing that zombies are taking over games. They even noted the most recent Red Dead Redemption DLC, which is exactly what set me off to write that blog entry.
Verrrry ironic. Haha ;)

Wow, Best Buy is having an AMAZING game trade-in program right now.

Look at this list! If you trade in two of these games, you get a $60 gift card, allowing you to get a brand new game. Mannn, it's extremely tempting. I'm considering trading in some old games. I have an issue with getting rid of games, though. Hahaha. Well, anyway, this is an AWESOME deal that Best Buy is offering, and I think this may only be a limited time thing for the holidays. So if you reallly want a new game like Black Ops or New Vegas, this is the perfect opportunity to trade in some games and get these newer titles.

Current Desktop:

Yes, Deadpool. I love him.
He is also the background on my phone.

Gotta love the Merc with a Mouth.

And, in other comic book news...

BATMAN GOES PUBLIC?! WHAAAT? Well, in recent issues, Bruce Wayne told Gotham that he has been funding Batman. And now he's created....Batman, Inc.
Oh. Dear.
One can only wonder where the writers are going to take things from here.

Am I the only one getting sick of zombies?

I am usually always up for a good game that has some zombies/infected/undead in it. But I feel like in the past few months, the fascination with zombies that this culture seems to have has just been overwhelming.
Too many zombies!

I am not just talking about games in this case. They have infected my COMICS, too. I know I am not the only one who absolutely hates Marvel Zombies. I enjoy the artwork, but the story...? Oh my gosh, Marvel. NO, just no. If you do not follow the Marvel Zombies storyline, do not worry – you are not missing much. It pretty much destroyed the image I had of my favorite childhood heroes.

I really, really think this zombie obsession is just getting to be a bit too much. Red Dead Redemption has a somewhat new DLC incorporating infected zombies. Also, Call of Duty: Black Ops. Oh look! Another COD game with zombies Рjust what we all need. I think I am starting to see a trend here. Do the developers think they are creative by adding zombies to their games? No, it is not creative РIt is clich̩. And quite frankly, I am getting tired of seeing zombies everywhere. It is overdone at this point.

And that concludes my rather short, yet much needed rant on our zombie culture.

Here is something much better than zombies for all of you.

Raiden will cut you.

I Am Now A Member of GameFly

There are quite a few games out and/or soon to be released that I am looking forward to playing. I can think of four off the top of my head: Medal of Honor, New Vegas, Fable III, and Black Ops (in November).
So, $60 x 4. You do the math. Ahh, that is a lot of money! Even if I got the games used, that is still a lot of money. I decided to try out GameFly (I have it free for ten days, and then it's $22.95 a month). I am able to rent out two games at a time, which is really awesome. I am hoping this will be worth my money; it SEEMS to be a good investment for someone like myself who plays a lot of video games.

That's the e-mail I got! Awww yeahhh.

Yesterday at Gamestop they were heavily advertising their new Rewards cards. I heard that they were not worth buying, but I feel like as a gamer, I was obliged to get it. So I picked myself up one of these fancy things.
NOW I am hardcore.

So I just got myself a GameFly subscription and this Gamestop card. Were they wise investments? Probably not. But whatever. I have this card for life now, which is cool. Although, the rewards you get with it take thousanddssss of points. It is ridiculous. That is why this card sucks. But I will probably be doing a lot of trade-ins soon. Actually, I might do that Tuesday when I pick up Fable III. (Bye, ODST! ahaha  yeah that game is GONE!)

I was a little hesitant about getting Fable III. I was really excited about it at first, so I pre-ordered it. But now I'm not looking as forward to it as I did in the past. I wanted to cancel my pre-order and maybe just pick up New Vegas instead, but I have decided against that, too! I can NEVER make up my mind. My final decision, though, is to purchase Fable III with a few trade-ins. And now I can rent New Vegas with Gamefly, so at least I will be able to play it. I feel like to me, Fable III will have more replay value than Fallout will. But that's just my opinion and personal preference.

Gaming is making me poor. As a college student, I have to manage my money. So I am not going out to eat anymore. And new clothes? Naah, bro. I'm going to have to stick with last year's fall/winter clothes and shoes. Oh, the sacrifices a girl must make for gaming.

Roanoke Valley Comic Con!

Yesterday I went to Roanoke Valley Comic Con with my school's comic book club. Allow me to tell you a little bit about my experience.

The "convention" was not exactly what I was expecting. At all. It was not exactly similar to previous Comic Cons I have been to. Firstly, I was not expecting to shell out over $30 in comic books. I knew that I should not have spent that much money on comics at that time, but I did it. Secondly, I was expecting... a little bit more than just a room full of local comic book vendors. Because that is ALL it was. It was simply a bunch of comic stores bringing their entire collection into a tiny room, and people buying. In all truthfulness, I really had nothing better to do than just spend money.

But, overall, I enjoyed my time there. It has been a while since I  have been in that type of environment. I totally miss it!
So let us look at what I got! ;)  I apologize for the glare and poor quality. Taking pictures on my webcam sucks. :|

DEADPOOL, MY LOVE. A collection of some classic Deadpool. I just HAD to have something Deadpool. He is, after all, my favorite EVER!

Dazzler and Spider-Man & Kitty Pryde and Wolverine!
Haha, so I'm biiig on the mash-ups/crossovers of characters. I love collecting them! I am also big on female superheroes, there are so many that I love! Dazzler and Kitty Pryde are two of my favorites.

Batman and Spider-Man?! Whaaat? Yeah, it looked interesting to me so I bought it haha. Also, the famous issue where Peter Parker marries Mary Jane! Ahhh I love it!

Origin of Captain America, this is a reprint :( But I still really wanted this issue.

THIS is probably my favorite thing that I bought. I LOVED GWEN FREAKING STACY. I managed to get this price lowered by a lot! I was sooo excited when I saw it! Ahh!

Well that was my trippp! I know, I'm a geek. Geek geek geeeeeeek. I loveee it!

Also, I am really hoping on attending San Diego Comic-Con this year. Yes, it may be happening. FINALLY, I WILL GET TO BE AT THE COMIC-CON.

I bring you... the handheld.

This is my Nintendo DSi XL. Not a very good picture.
I've been neglecting it lately, quite a lot.
I know many people who have this problem.

It seems to me that handheld games have become this stereotype of being only for "casual gamers". The only people I see playing a DS nowadays are little kids or nintendo fanboys. And PSPs? I almost never see them being played anymore.
With the 3DS coming out next year, I am sure it will be the same thing. Another handheld to collect dust. Yes, you'll play the new Kid Icarus, but after that hype, what are you going to do with your 3DS?

I have come up with a "solution" to the lack of attention your handhelds receive. Personally, being in college, I travel home a lot. Therefore, instead of whipping out my laptop on long train rides to play some Starcraft, I now play some Dr. Mario on my DSi. And you know what? It is awesome. I also am constantly taking buses to campus, so I like to bring my DSi with me on the bus. Yeah, sometime I get some weird looks from others. But you know what? I do not care! I am proud to play my DS! If you are ashamed to play your handheld in public, as a gamer, I pity you.
If you have played all of your DS games, and have nothing new to play, the DSi has a marketplace where you can buy something for a few dollars (that's how I got Dr. Mario!). Tetris, Zenonia, go buy anything! Get a game that has good replay value such as Pokemon, so you will always have something to entertain you when you're out.

So, in conclusion, do not neglect your handhelds. Just because there aren't many good FPS games for the DS or PSP doesn't mean they are only for casual gamers. There are OTHER THINGS to play besides Call of Duty, believe it or not.

NEW first post? Yes.

I started this blog a while back, and it was originally going to be a blog about my day-to-day life rants. However, I've decided to dedicate this blog as my personal geek gaming blog.

What are you going to expect from this blog?
Basically, this is my personal blog on all things geek. Gaming, for the most part. Ever wanted a female gamer's input on the world of gaming? Well, that's what you'll see here! I don't like to be boring, so expect some quirky remarks and interesting comments regarding the world of gaming.

Gaming is my passion. A lot of people I know do not really understand that. But there are also many who DO. I hope you all will read this blog and find it interesting. My future in the world of gaming will only be expanding from here, I'm sure of it. I have a lot of goals for my future, and I'll definitely be blogging about them!

I've been inspired by so many to start this blog, so I hope that it will help me sort out my future, especially in the gaming world.

So, a little bit about me?

My name is Tracie.

I am a student. College student. I grew up in New York, but now I am currently attending school in Virginia. I am majoring in communication studies with a concentration in journalism. Obviously my main hobby is gaming. But beside that, I also cosplay, read literature, play airsoft on occasion, read comics and graphic novels, go to church at least twice a week, research other cultures, look into fashion, and study politics. My overall goal for my future is either to be a political journalist or gaming journalist; they are the only two things I can get really fired up about, truthfully. So now that I have spilled half of my life story for you readers, I hope you all enjoy my blog. My goal is to never bore you. Let us hope I succeed.
